I got a fantastic review in Swedish paper ”Metro” last Friday. The article said that “One of Sweden’s best word-dealers is back with her new novel, Daughters of the Marionettes”, and later it stipulated that “…as always, when Maria Ernestam takes the pen in her hand, the result is tender magic of language on the highest level possible”. As always, I get extremely happy when people admire my language and say that it is beautiful, that it is clear that I have worked hard with it and that it is a pleasure reading it. Language is very important to me and I work hard with my sentences and rewrite again and again to get the smooth rhythm that I want to achieve.
The journalist writing the critique is Caroline Engvall, which makes me even more happy. She is the author of books “14 år till salu” and “Skamfläck”, both dealing with young people loosing themselves in their search for inner and outer respect. Excellent writing.
